Funding cut for "Dutch" Schools in New Zealand

The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has abolished funding for Dutch language schools overseas from 1 Jan 2014. This affects 13,000 children in such schools world-wide and could be the end of the Dutch School in Wellington and possibly other sites in New Zealand because they need the subsidy to continue the lessons.
Without the funding, children will return to the Netherlands with a gap in their Dutch knowledge and grasp of the language.
Do you think the Ministry should fund Dutch language schools? Compare this to the stance taken by France and Germany with their support of the Alliance Francaise and the Goethe Institute? Is Dutch a dying language? Do they want it to be? Do you want it to be?
