For everyone with a Dutch background, a connection with the Netherlands or just a kind-hearted feeling for all things Dutch! The now or never moment to make the Dutch Connection Museum a reality has arrived. About The Project

Our Place, or "Onze Plek", will open in 2016, to tell the inspirational success story of the Dutch: from Abel Tasman's first contact with the Maori, to today's achievements in farming, business, the arts and much more. Ons Museum en Cultereel Centrum will also act as a venue for exchanges between two countries - in the realms of culture, the visual arts, business and science - and for our community to come together. 

Onze Plek will be located in Foxton, as part of the Te Awahou-Nieuwe Stroom project that is being established by Horowhenua District Council. It'll be a collaboration with local Maori and other groups to establish a state of the art tourism facility and community hub. 

Now's The Moment

The Dutch Connection Museum Trust has received generous donations from a large number of Dutch individuals and organisations in the past, from the Federation of NZ-Netherlands Societies, the NetherlaNZ Foundation and the clubs in Wellington, Waikato, Christchurch, Wanganui and Palmerston North, well over $50,000. Funding from sponsors with Dutch connections is coming in as well. All that's needed is to collect just over $1 million more. That's why it would be ideal for anyone with a Dutch connection to contribute - there are more than 120,000 New Zealanders with Dutch heritage, so if everyone gave a little this museum can happen.
