The New Zealand School of Dance’s forthcoming Graduation Season opens on Wednesday 19 November. As always, this is a great opportunity to experience performance by the next generation of dance professionals, when the students perform the work of iconic choreographers from the worlds of classical ballet and contemporary dance by New Zealand and international choreographers.
This year’s programme includes two works by Dutch choreographers. The works in question are "Purcell Pieces" from acclaimed choreographer Nils Christe, which soars with breathtaking pace and a swirling palette of colour, and Wessel Oostrum’s poignant and touching solo ‘The Speech’, danced to a monologue by Charlie Chaplin from the film ‘The Great Dictator’, stands out as a tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I.
Presented at the end of each year, Graduation Season is an important tradition at the New Zealand School of Dance. Students from the School’s full-time programme perform the work of iconic choreographers from the worlds of classical ballet and contemporary dance.
